The Balvenie is an original Speyside single malt Scotch whisky founded by William Grant in 1892 in Dufftown, UK. The uniqueness of this whisky lies in the use of malt from the company's family farm, which enabled its production even during the war years.
This exceptional Balvenie 50Y whisky was created by Malt Master David Stewart and matured in American oak casks previously used for sherry. Balvenie is characterised by a rich nose of raisins, ginger and oak, while the palate offers notes of fruit, black cherry, blackberry, cinnamon and ginger. Each bottle is individually labelled with the year of bottling and cask number, and comes in a wooden case designed by Sam Chinnery.
Significant milestones include the death of founder William Grant in 1923 and son John beginning the first expansion of the distillery, the first official release of a single malt in 1971, the appointment of David C. Stewart MBE as the fourth Malt Master in 1974, and the release of a 50 year old in 1987 as one of the first whiskies of such a high age on the market.
