Product description

Ballantine's 23Y American Oak is an exceptionally mature and bold blended whisky with an enchanting depth of flavor. It was created by master blender Sandy Hyslop, who hand-selected whiskies for this exclusive edition that were matured exclusively in first-fill American oak barrels. It is these casks that give it its characteristic smoothness, elegant sweetness, and distinctive vanilla notes.

Characteristics:

The aroma develops a deep and delicately fruity profile with hints of vanilla and noble oak. The taste is rich and complex, perfectly balancing honey, floral, and juicy fruit notes that smoothly transition into a smooth and sophisticated finish. The finish is long-lasting, elegant, and exceptionally harmonious.

Tasting profile:

Color: Rich old gold.

Aroma: Delicate, fruity, vanilla oakiness.

Taste: Honey, floral, fruity, with notes of vanilla.

Finish: Long, silky smooth and elegant.

Ballantine's 23Y American Oak is the ideal choice for connoisseurs looking for a luxurious whiskey with a distinctive American oak influence, a precise balance of flavors, and an exceptionally smooth expression.

Awards:

  • BRONZE - WORLD WHISKIES AWARDS 2023

Ballantine's history:

Ballantine's, a Scottish whisky brand, was founded in 1827 by George Ballantine, originally a greengrocer. George opened his first grocery store in Edinburgh and gradually specialised in maturing quality, hand-selected malt whiskies. In 1857 he expanded his store to meet the growing demand for his products and in 1881 began exporting his blended whisky to world markets.

After his retirement, his sons took over the business. Ballantine's was awarded a Quality Recognition from Queen Victoria in 1895, a significant milestone, and over the years the company continued to innovate, including the launch of Ballantine's Finest in 1910 and the development of the iconic square bottle during Prohibition for easier concealment.

In 1937, master blender George Robertson joined the team to create the world's first 17-year-old Scotch whisky and the prestigious Ballantine's 30. The company acquired a heraldic emblem in 1938, which includes the Latin phrase "Amicus Humani Generis" (Friend of all mankind).

Ballantine's continues to celebrate its history and continues to innovate, as evidenced by its 2014 partnership with the Boiler Room Music Project to promote real music and whiskey.
