About the Jura distillery:
Isle of Jura Distillery was founded in 1810 by Archibald Campbell on the remote island of Jura and has been inextricably linked with the rugged nature and isolated character of this place since its inception. After obtaining an official license in 1831 and undergoing significant modernization in the 19th century, the distillery went through a period of closure before reopening in 1963 and breathing new life into the local community. The pure island water sourced from The Paps mountain range and the exceptionally tall stills play a key role in the character of Jura whisky, promoting the creation of a smooth, fruity, and aromatic distillate. Since its acquisition by Whyte & Mackay in 1994, Jura has established itself as an accessible island single malt whisky. In recent years, the brand has undergone significant modernization and in 2023 became the best-selling single malt whisky in the UK.
