Product description

Ardbeg Uigeadail is one of this distillery’s most iconic whiskies and has long been among the most popular bottles among fans of the brand. The name Uigeadail (pronounced roughly “Oog-a-dal”) means dark, mysterious place in Gaelic and refers to Loch Uigeadail, from which the distillery draws its peat-rich water. It is this water that gives the whiskey its characteristic deep smokiness.

Characteristics:

This non-age-stated whisky is created by blending distillates from bourbon casks and Oloroso sherry casks. The result is a bold and layered combination of sweetness, spice, and intense smoke. Furthermore, Ardbeg Uigeadail is not chill-filtered, so it retains its full character, texture, and aromatic depth.

Tasting Profile:

Color: Deepest gold.

Nose: Warm Christmas cake, nut oil, Parma violets, sea spices, cedar, pine needles, smoldering coal, oiled leather, molasses caramel, chocolate-coated raisins.

Taste: Full and rich, winter spices, deep smoke, honey-glazed smoky notes, chewy molasses caramel, layers of smoky and rich aromas.

Finish: Exceptionally long and dense, with notes of raisins, mocha, and rich aromatic smoke.

Ardbeg Uigeadail is a whisky for lovers of intense, smoky, and complex malts. It offers a distinctive Islay style, yet also features rich sherry sweetness and a spicy depth that makes it one of the most characterful whiskies in the Ardbeg portfolio.

About the Ardbeg distillery:

Founded in 1815 by John Macdougal, Ardbeg has a rich history dating back to the time when Celtic monks sought refuge on the island from raids by the Norse. The island of Islay, characterized by wild nature and untamed shores, offers ideal conditions for producing unique whisky—an abundance of soft water, fertile soil, and peat, which gives the local whisky its distinctive profile.

Ardbeg is not only the name of the distillery, but a symbol of tradition, quality, and an unshakable spirit that has defined the Scottish island of Islay for more than two centuries. Recognized worldwide for its uniqueness and awarded many times at prestigious competitions, Ardbeg stands at the forefront of whisky production and is considered one of the finest whiskies in the world.

In 2021, a unique cask from 1975 was sold for a record £16 million, marking an extraordinary milestone in the distillery's history. In keeping with the distillery's tradition of social responsibility and heritage, £1 million of the proceeds were donated to community projects on the island of Islay, underscoring Ardbeg's commitment to its community.
