The Macallan No. 6 in Lalique is a rich and elegant single malt whisky enclosed in a luxurious hexagonal crystal decanter created in collaboration with the prestigious French house of Lalique. It combines the world of top-quality Scottish distilling with the pinnacle of artistic craftsmanship.
Characteristics:
The Macallan No. 6 in Lalique was created as a tribute to the natural color of The Macallan whisky. Its deep, dark hue—reminiscent of a Spanish sunset—comes exclusively from Spanish sherry oak casks. These casks are handcrafted in Jerez de la Frontera and come from a single cooperage to ensure consistent quality and character.
It is the Spanish oak seasoned with sherry that gives the whisky its characteristic structure, depth, and spicy complexity that is iconic to The Macallan.
Tasting profile:
Color: A deep, dark tone reminiscent of a sunset over Andalusia.
Aroma: Raisins, dates, and figs form the basis of a rich aroma. Sultanas, caramel apples, and hints of dry ginger and delicate cinnamon are added. Dark chocolate and creamy vanilla sweetness stand out in the background.
Taste: Full, dense, and velvety. A fruit cake of raisins, dates, and figs intertwines with notes of apples, oranges, and spices—ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, and delicate cloves. The oak is smooth, elegant, and perfectly integrated.
Finish: Silky smooth, long, and full.
Every The Macallan whisky is the result of meticulous work with oak. The casks are hand-selected, crafted, charred, and seasoned under the supervision of the Whisky Master team. It is the quality of the wood that has a fundamental influence on the natural color, aroma, and structure of the distillate.
The Macallan No. 6 in Lalique is matured exclusively in these exceptional casks until it reaches a standard worthy of the The Macallan name.
Gift packaging:
The whisky comes in a beautiful gift box and an iconic hexagonal crystal decanter, whose shape symbolizes the six pillars of The Macallan brand.
The Macallan No. 6 in Lalique is not just a whisky—it is a collector's gem and an exceptional single malt that represents the best of the Speyside tradition.
The Macallan Distillers Ltd.
The Macallan Distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, originally a teacher and barley grower, who leased land in Easter Elchies in 1819. The Macallan was one of the first Scottish distilleries to be officially licensed and has gradually built a reputation as one of the most prestigious single malt whisky brands in the world.
From the beginning, its character has been shaped by three key influences – Scotland, Spain, and North America. It is precisely this emphasis on the selection of raw materials and, above all, on maturation in carefully selected sherry casks from Spain that has become one of the pillars of this iconic brand's style. Merchant Roderick Kemp, who bought the distillery in 1892 and cemented its long-term association with sherry casks, also played an important role.
A legendary milestone was the 1926 cask, which was bottled after sixty years as The Macallan 1926 60 Years Old – one of the most sought-after whiskies of its time.
In 2018, the brand opened a new architecturally exceptional distillery designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, which combines modern technology with respect for the surrounding Speyside landscape. In 2024, the distillery celebrated 200 years since its founding – two centuries of craftsmanship, innovation, and exceptional quality that have defined the style of The Macallan.
