The Macallan Aera is a single malt whisky created as a tribute to important moments – those that deserve to stop time and celebrate. It was created with an emphasis on harmony, elegance, and the classic style of the Macallan brand, based on maturation in exceptional sherry oak casks.

The whisky has a natural nectar color, which it gets exclusively from the cask – without any added coloring.

Maturation:

The basis is a careful selection of American and European oak. The wood undergoes several years of natural drying, then is processed into sherry casks in Jerez. Only then do they travel to Scotland, where the distillate can mature for a long time.

It is these casks that give rise to the typical Macallan style – full of notes of dried fruit, chocolate, honey, and delicate spices.

Tasting profile:

Color: Natural nectar color.

Aroma: Vanilla, candied fruit, and orange peel with a delicate citrus sweetness. The aroma is round, firm, and balanced.

The Macallan Distillers Ltd.

The Macallan Distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, originally a teacher and barley grower, who leased land in Easter Elchies in 1819. The Macallan was one of the first Scottish distilleries to be officially licensed and has gradually built a reputation as one of the most prestigious single malt whisky brands in the world.

From the beginning, its character has been shaped by three key influences – Scotland, Spain, and North America. It is precisely this emphasis on the selection of raw materials and, above all, on maturation in carefully selected sherry casks from Spain that has become one of the pillars of this iconic brand's style. Merchant Roderick Kemp, who bought the distillery in 1892 and cemented its long-term association with sherry casks, also played an important role.

A legendary milestone was the 1926 cask, which was bottled after sixty years as The Macallan 1926 60 Years Old – one of the most sought-after whiskies of its time.

In 2018, the brand opened a new architecturally exceptional distillery designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, which combines modern technology with respect for the surrounding Speyside landscape. In 2024, the distillery celebrated 200 years since its founding – two centuries of craftsmanship, innovation, and exceptional quality that have defined the style of The Macallan.
