Dictador Jerarquía Pardo 1985 is a rare Colombian vintage rum from an exceptional family collection of old barrels, which the Parra family has cared for over generations. The Jerarquía collection features carefully selected rums with a unique flavor profile, long aging, and very limited availability.
Production:
The rum comes from a distillery in the heart of Colombia that is now closed, which further underscores its rarity and collectible nature. The name Jerarquía, meaning “hierarchy,” refers to the exceptional status of these barrels in the family collection and to the time and care devoted to their aging.
The rums from the Jerarquía collection were aged in selected American oak barrels and in barrels previously used for sherry or port wine. The Pardo 1985 edition offers a layered profile that blends red fruit, citrus, vanilla, spices, cocoa, and subtle leather notes.
Tasting Profile:
Nose: Red apple juice, quince, dates in dark chocolate, clementines, and orange peel.
Palate: Blood orange, fresh oak, vanilla, and citrus notes complemented by cloves and a subtle hint of suede.
Finish: Delicate red fruit, cinnamon sticks, and cocoa.
The aroma features red apple juice, quince, and dates dipped in dark chocolate. The fruity character is complemented by clementines and orange peel.
The taste is distinctive and balanced, with notes of blood orange, fresh oak, vanilla, and citrus. Cloves add a spicy depth, while a subtle hint of suede underscores the rum’s maturity.
Recommended serving:
Neat at room temperature, or with a few drops of water.

About the Dictador brand:
Dictador was born in Colombia, a country famous not only for its coffee but also for its ideal climate for rum maturation. The result is a rum that appeals to collectors, lovers of rare editions, and lovers of sophisticated flavors.
The Dictador brand draws inspiration from Sever Arangoy, nicknamed "El Dictador," a Spanish official who oversaw the rum trade in Cartagena de Indias, the commercial center of the Spanish colonial empire in the 18th century. The brand is named after him, and this is where the story of Dictador as a rum with authority began.
The modern era of Dictador began in 1913, when the family business of the same name was officially founded. Since then, Dictador rum has been produced with an emphasis on precision, craftsmanship, and long aging, now led by renowned master blender Hernan Parra, who is the third generation of the Parra rum family.
