Ron Colón is a rum blend that combines elegant Salvadoran rum with the bolder character of Jamaican pot still rums. The base is a six-year-old Salvadoran rum from the Licorera Cihuatán distillery, complemented by Jamaican rums from the Worthy Park, Hampden, and Monymusk distilleries. This combination creates a distinctive rum with a fruity base, earthy depth, and a pleasantly dry finish.
Tasting Profile:
Aroma: Fruity, with notes of banana, pineapple, raisins, and dried plums.
Taste: Smooth and fruity, with tropical fruit, spices, caramel, and the earthier notes of Jamaican pot still rums.
Finish: Slightly dry, warming, and pleasantly earthy.
This Salvadoran rum, distilled in Spanish-style column stills, offers smoothness, tropical fruitiness, and a highly drinkable profile. The aroma features bananas, pineapple, raisins, and dried plums. The taste follows with notes of tropical fruit, spices, and caramel. Jamaican pot still rums add earthiness, warmth, and a more pronounced rum character to the blend.
Serving:
Ron Colón contains no added sugar, so it retains a drier and more authentic profile. With an alcohol content of 40.5%, it strikes a balance—distinctive enough to enjoy neat, yet versatile enough for cocktails.
It’s perfect for a simple Rum and Tonic, where its fruitiness and slightly earthy character blend with bittersweet tonic water, lemon essence, and fresh mint.
Rum and Tonic:
Fill a glass with ice, add 50 ml of Ron Colón, top with 100 ml of Fever-Tree tonic, and finish with lemon essence and fresh mint. Gently stir and serve.
Ron Colón is a rum for customers seeking a modern blend with tropical fruitiness, Jamaican earthiness, and a drier profile with no added sugar. It shines when served neat, on the rocks, or in simple mixed drinks.
Producer:
What began as an enthusiast project by two friends soon grew into a team of professionals. At the helm are Thurman Wise and Pepij Janssens, who came up with the idea of capturing the liquid essence of El Salvador in a bottle of rum. Another key figure is Andres Trigueros and his family from Jags Heads Coffee, who granted the Ron Colón brand the privilege of collaborating with one of the most interesting coffee farms in El Salvador. Thanks to Felicity Gransden, new flavor innovations are emerging, and Chris Rehberger is responsible for the company’s visual identity.
