Opthimus 15Y Sistema Solera Oporto is a distinctive rum that benefits from final maturation in barrels that previously held select port wine. It is this step that gives the rum its depth, elegance, and characteristic fruity-spicy profile.
Aging and origin:
The rum comes from the Dominican Republic and is produced under the supervision of renowned producer Oliver & Oliver. It is based on 15-year-old Sistema Solera rum, which is then stored for several months in Oporto port wine barrels. The result is a more complex and aromatic expression with a distinctive influence of sweet fortified wine.
Tasting profile:
Color: Dark gold with amber highlights.
Aroma: Distinct notes of port wine, sugar cane, nuts, oak wood, vanilla, and subtle cinnamon.
Taste: Warm, fruity-sweet, and intense, with a pleasantly balanced strength of 43% alcohol.
Double maturation—first in classic solera, then in port barrels—creates a harmonious combination of sweetness, spiciness, and oak structure. Opthimus 15Y Sistema Solera Oporto is a modern rum with a rich aromatic profile, ideal for slow sipping on its own or as a representative bottle.
About OLIVER & OLIVER:
OLIVER & OLIVER is a family company with rich Cuban origins, now based in the heart of the Dominican Republic. The company is known for its passion for producing and marketing premium craft rums, with each brand, such as Opthimus, Quorhum, Cubaney, and others, unique in character, aroma, and taste.
OLIVER & OLIVER is distinguished by its innovative approach to rum aging, which is based on an adaptation of the traditional Spanish solera method. At least twice a year, they select and blend mother rums that form the basis for the next production cycle.
Most OLIVER & OLIVER rums are produced in limited and numbered editions, which gives each bottle exclusivity and increases its collector's value. This approach emphasizes the family heritage and artistry that goes into every stage of production.
