SKUNK is a brand of Danish sustainably produced rum. Within its framework, four different rums were created, but they are united by inspiration from Jamaica and the local processes of rum production. Each of the rums has unique characteristics.
The SKUNK Rum family consists of experimental SKUNK Rum, where each batch will be different with respect to the use of different types of fermentation and distillation methods. The second rum is Spotted SKUNK Rum, now joined by Striped SKUNK Rum. The last variant will be Hooded SKUNK Rum, a blend of the previous two rums, which will then mature in oak barrels. All rums are made from Paraguayan molasses and are bottled at 69.3% alcohol.
Striped Skunk takes you under the warm skies of Jamaica and the Mediterranean coast of Italy with notes of Italian herbs and mint. Bintu Singh, who is behind the production of this rum, used mint yeast during fermentation, which, in addition to natural sweetness, gives the rum Mediterranean notes. The goal was to create a rum that would become the perfect base for fresh summer Mojito cocktails.
Rum ferments for almost three weeks in a vat with mint yeast, which defines its taste. The resulting distillate is naturally sweet, with aromas of Italian herbs and mint, which are evident even after drinking.
