Product description
The Dalmore Constellation 1972 Cask No. 1 is an exceptionally rare 39-year-old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the Constellation collector’s series. It was distilled in 1972 and comes from a single cask, No. 1. It was bottled at 47.5% ABV.
This whisky was first aged for 36 years in an Oloroso sherry cask and then for another 3 years in a bourbon cask. Unlike the more common process, the order of aging is reversed here, which gives this edition a very distinctive character.
Tasting Profile:
Color: Deep amber to mahogany.
Aroma: Rich and layered, with notes of Seville oranges, honeycomb, sandalwood, and vanilla. Caramelized apricots, rosehip syrup, and melon gradually emerge.
Taste: Full-bodied and complex, with notes of fruit cake, a pronounced sherry character, orange zest, and black maraschino cherries. This evolves into caramel, ginger spice, chocolate mousse, and hints of Marsala.
Finish: Long and lingering.
Constellation Collection:
The Dalmore Constellation Collection is a selection of exceptional single casks from the vintages 1964 through 1992. The collection was curated under the guidance of Richard Patterson and represents several decades of history and stylistic evolution at The Dalmore distillery.
The whiskey is presented in an elegant decanter featuring the distinctive silver Dalmore stag and comes in a luxurious collector’s box.
About The Dalmore Distillery:
The Dalmore Distillery is a Scottish single malt whisky distillery in the Highlands with a history dating back to 1839, when it was founded by Alexander Matheson. In 1867, descendants of the Mackenzie clan took over the distillery, and it is to them that the use of the iconic 12-pointed royal stag on the bottles is attributed, a symbol that references the clan’s ancient royal heritage.
The Dalmore is known for its robust and fruity spirit, which is designed from the outset to respond well to longer and more complex maturation. The brand is renowned for its emphasis on the careful selection of exceptional casks and its long-standing relationships with leading wineries and cellars, which result in rich and layered whiskies with a distinctive, luxurious style.
Today, master whisky maker Gregg Glass carries on the tradition of The Dalmore, while Richard Paterson remains the brand’s mentor. The Dalmore thus combines its historical heritage, precise work with casks, and an emphasis on the distinctive, elegant character of its whiskies.
