Product description

The Dalmore Constellation 1973 Cask No. 10 is an exceptionally rare 38-year-old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the Constellation Collection. It was distilled on March 21, 1973, and only 223 bottles were produced from a single cask. It was bottled at 48.1% ABV

The maturation of this whisky is unusually complex. It first spent 32 years in American white oak, then was transferred for three years to a French oak cask previously used for Cabernet Sauvignon from Château Haut-Marbuzet. It spent the final three years maturing in a cask previously used for Kentucky bourbon. The result is a rich and layered whiskey that blends fruit, sweet dessert notes, and subtle spices.

Tasting Profile:

Color: Amber-gold with reddish highlights.

Nose: Apple blossom, wild berries, black currant, ripe plums, and crème brûlée.

Taste: Grape pulp, citrus zest, juicy raisins, and spiced marzipan, complemented by cranberries, black cherries, and notes of muscat wine.

Finish: Long and lingering.

Constellation Collection:

The Dalmore Constellation Collection presents a selection of exceptional single casks spanning several decades of the distillery’s history. Each release captures a specific vintage, cask, and maturation method. The 1973 variant comes from Cask No. 10, and with only 223 bottles, it is a highly limited collector’s edition. The whiskey is presented in an elegant decanter featuring The Dalmore’s signature silver stag and comes in a luxurious gift box.

About The Dalmore Distillery:

The Dalmore Distillery is a Scottish single malt whisky distillery in the Highlands with a history dating back to 1839, when it was founded by Alexander Matheson. In 1867, descendants of the Mackenzie clan took over the distillery, and it is to them that the use of the iconic 12-pointed royal stag on the bottles is attributed, a symbol that references the clan’s ancient royal heritage.

The Dalmore is known for its robust and fruity spirit, which is designed from the outset to respond well to longer and more complex maturation. The brand is renowned for its emphasis on the careful selection of exceptional casks and its long-standing relationships with leading wineries and cellars, which result in rich and layered whiskies with a distinctive, luxurious style.

Today, master whisky maker Gregg Glass carries on the tradition of The Dalmore, while Richard Paterson remains the brand’s mentor. The Dalmore thus combines its historical heritage, precise work with casks, and an emphasis on the distinctive, elegant character of its whiskies.
