Ron Colón RumRye is an original blend that brings together two once-dominant spirits—rum and rye whiskey. It was created as part of the Ron Colón Salvadoreño brand philosophy, which aims to combine different traditions and flavors into new, innovative forms. The result is a bold and harmonious spirit that combines the natural sweetness of rum with the spicy character of rye whiskey.

Production:

The blend consists of 50% Ron Colón Salvadoreño rum and 50% rye whiskey. The rum component is based on six-year-old rum from El Salvador from the Licorera Cihuatán distillery, complemented by two Jamaican pot still rums—one three-year-old from Worthy Park and a blend of unaged rums from the Worthy Park, Hampden, and Monymusk distilleries. The whiskey is 100% rye, distilled in a copper column and aged in virgin white oak barrels charred to the deepest “alligator” level. After blending, both components rest in stainless steel tanks to harmonize their flavors.

Tasting Profile:

Nose: Banana, pineapple, fresh mint, honey, a hint of spice.

Palate: Candied fruit, orange blossom, the spiciness of rye whiskey, the natural sweetness of rum.

Finish: Dry, with hints of citrus and mint.

Ron Colón RumRye is an unconventional and distinctly characterful spirit for those who enjoy discovering new flavor combinations. It combines sweetness, spice, fruitiness, and a fresh, dry finish, and stands out well both on its own and in modern cocktails.

What began as a passion project by two friends soon grew into a team of professionals. At the helm are Thurman Wise and Pepij Janssens, who came up with the idea of capturing the essence of El Salvador in a bottle of rum. Another key figure is Andres Trigueros and his family from Jags Heads Coffee, who granted the Ron Colón brand the privilege of collaborating with one of the most interesting coffee farms in El Salvador. Felicity Gransden is responsible for new flavor innovations, and Chris Rehberger is behind the company’s visual identity.
