It was born from a desire to capture the authentic spirit of El Salvador and translate it into a product with a distinctive, original, and bold character. The result is an unconventional blend that combines the sweetness and fruitiness of rum with the earthiness and smokiness of mezcal.

Production:

The base consists of 66% Ron Colón Salvadoreño rum and 33% Maguay Espadín mezcal. The main rum component is six-year-old rum from El Salvador from the Licorera Cihuatán distillery, complemented by two Jamaican pot still rums—one three-year-old from Worthy Park and a blend of unaged rums from the Worthy Park, Hampden, and Monymusk distilleries. The mezcal comes from the family-run Maguay distillery in Oaxaca, where traditional artisanal methods are still used.

What began as a passion project by two friends soon grew into a team of professionals. At the helm are Thurman Wise and Pepij Janssens, who came up with the idea of capturing the essence of El Salvador in a bottle of rum. Another key figure is Andres Trigueros and his family from Jags Heads Coffee, who granted the Ron Colón brand the privilege of collaborating with one of the most interesting coffee farms in El Salvador. Felicity Gransden is responsible for new flavor innovations, and Chris Rehberger is behind the company’s visual identity.
