Product description

Dictador Libreto AO 1997 is a vintage rum from the exclusive Dictador Vintages collection, continuing the stylish and meticulously crafted series selected by master blender Hernán Parra. The name Libreto refers to a small opera libretto and perfectly captures the character of this rum—carefully constructed, layered, and elegant, like a well-written flavor composition.

This 1997 vintage aged for a total of 25 years in American oak barrels and achieved its final character through finishing in port and sherry casks. The result is a rum with a smooth, supple, yet highly complex profile that combines spices, fruit, and a subtle sweetness into a balanced whole.

Tasting Profile:

Nose: Oak spices, nutmeg, mace, black pepper, sticky caramel pudding, orange blossom water.

Taste: Smooth and velvety, dates, white chocolate, licorice, red berries, plums, figs.

Finish: Licorice with a hint of white pepper.

Dictador Libreto AO 1997 is a rum with a refined and delicately spicy character that, thanks to its long aging, offers depth, velvety smoothness, and an elegant fruity dimension. It is best enjoyed slowly and will be particularly appreciated by connoisseurs and collectors of exceptional vintage rums.

About the Dictador brand:

Dictador was born in Colombia, a country famous not only for its coffee but also for its ideal climate for rum maturation. The result is a rum that appeals to collectors, lovers of rare editions, and lovers of sophisticated flavors.

The Dictador brand draws inspiration from Sever Arangoy, nicknamed "El Dictador," a Spanish official who oversaw the rum trade in Cartagena de Indias, the commercial center of the Spanish colonial empire in the 18th century. The brand is named after him, and this is where the story of Dictador as a rum with authority began.

The modern era of Dictador began in 1913, when the family business of the same name was officially founded. Since then, Dictador rum has been produced with an emphasis on precision, craftsmanship, and long aging, now led by renowned master blender Hernan Parra, who is the third generation of the Parra rum family.
