Karfíkův dvůr was originally focused on intensive fruit farming but due to the difficulties of the fruit trade, it switched to processing. In 1997 a fruit drying plant was opened and in 1999 a fruit distillery was started.

The history of distillate production in Bohemia dates back to the time of John of Luxembourg, but it flourished during the reign of Charles IV. Initially, alcohol was distilled mainly from wine, but over time the choice of raw materials expanded. By the 16th century, various fruits and herbs were being distilled. 

The desire of the Karfíkův dvůr to provide customers with quality spirits led to the production of a genuine apple spirit inspired by the French 'Calvados', focusing on the Golden Delicious variety for its sweetness and distinctive aroma.

To achieve the best quality and taste of the spirit, some selected Karfíkův dvůr products are aged in oak barrels, which gives them a unique aroma.
