The distillery was founded in 1897 under the name Tomatin Spey Distillery Co Ltd. and is located near the village of Tomatin. It is classified as originating in the Highland area. It changed hands several times until it was taken over by Japanese conglomerate Takara Shuzo in 1986. Part of the production is used in blends. This whisky was matured in bourbon casks and sherry casks. The aroma is fruity and malty. The taste is of apples, pears, malt and nuts.
