Product description

Dictador Jerarquía Borbon 1981 is a rare Colombian vintage rum from an exceptional family collection of old barrels, which has been cared for by the Parra family for generations. The Jerarquía collection features carefully selected rums with a unique flavor profile, long aging, and very limited availability.

Production:

The rum comes from a distillery in the heart of Colombia that is now closed, which further underscores its mystique and collector’s value. The name Jerarquía, meaning “hierarchy,” refers to the exceptional status of these barrels in the family collection and the patience with which they were preserved.

The rums from the Jerarquía collection were aged in selected American oak barrels and in barrels previously used for sherry or port wine. The Borbon 1981 edition offers a rich and layered profile that blends citrus and tropical fruits, baked goods, caramel, chocolate, vanilla, spices, and subtle woody notes.

Tasting Profile:

Aroma: Clementine, grilled pineapple, and ginger cake with cinnamon. Complemented by red apple pie and subtle oak spices.

Taste: Caramel apple, milk chocolate, and a pinch of red chili, balanced by crème anglaise, vanilla, and cherry cola. Leather and sandalwood emerge in the background.

Finish: Delicate and sweetly spiced, with Moroccan green tea, aged leather, vanilla tobacco, and a nutty praline note.

The aroma opens with clementine, followed by grilled pineapple and ginger cake with cinnamon. The next layer features red apple pie and subtle oak spices.

The palate offers caramelized apple, milk chocolate, and a light hint of red chili. These bolder elements are softened by crème anglaise, vanilla, and cherry cola. In the later stages, leather and sandalwood emerge.

Recommended serving:

Neat at room temperature, or with a few drops of water.

Dictador Jerarquía Borbon 1981 is an exceptional rum for experienced tasters and collectors. It offers a rare origin from a closed Colombian distillery and a complex combination of citrus, tropical fruit, caramel, chocolate, vanilla, spices, leather, tobacco, and nuts.

About the Dictador brand:

Dictador was born in Colombia, a country famous not only for its coffee but also for its ideal climate for rum maturation. The result is a rum that appeals to collectors, lovers of rare editions, and lovers of sophisticated flavors.

The Dictador brand draws inspiration from Sever Arangoy, nicknamed "El Dictador," a Spanish official who oversaw the rum trade in Cartagena de Indias, the commercial center of the Spanish colonial empire in the 18th century. The brand is named after him, and this is where the story of Dictador as a rum with authority began.

The modern era of Dictador began in 1913, when the family business of the same name was officially founded. Since then, Dictador rum has been produced with an emphasis on precision, craftsmanship, and long aging, now led by renowned master blender Hernan Parra, who is the third generation of the Parra rum family.
