Dictador Jerarquía Borbon 1991 is a rare Colombian vintage rum from an exceptional family collection of old barrels, which has been cared for by the Parra family for generations. The Jerarquía collection features carefully selected rums with individual character, long aging, and very limited availability.
Production:
The rum comes from a distillery in the heart of Colombia that is now closed, which further underscores its mystique and collector’s value. The name Jerarquía, meaning “hierarchy,” refers to the exceptional status of these barrels in the family collection as well as the patience and care devoted to their aging.
The rums from the Jerarquía collection were aged in selected American oak barrels and in barrels previously used for sherry or port wine. This variant, Borbon 1991 41%, offers a layered profile that blends aged leather, old books, herbs, sweet pastries, tropical fruit, and dark chocolate.
Tasting Profile:
Nose: New leather and old books complemented by lavender, thyme, caramel popcorn, and hot buttered toast.
Palate: Smooth and fruity, with pineapple, mango, and dark chocolate. A light note of sea salt is complemented by smoked meats, figs, and pronounced nuttiness.
Finish: Herbal and balanced, with minty green tea, pronounced oak, and vanilla.
The aroma initially reveals notes of new leather and old books. These are complemented by lavender, thyme, caramel popcorn, and hot buttered toast.
The taste is smooth and fruity, with pineapple and mango accompanied by dark chocolate and a light salty note. Smoked meat notes, figs, and rich nuttiness gradually emerge.
Recommended serving:

About the Dictador brand:
Dictador was born in Colombia, a country famous not only for its coffee but also for its ideal climate for rum maturation. The result is a rum that appeals to collectors, lovers of rare editions, and lovers of sophisticated flavors.
The Dictador brand draws inspiration from Sever Arangoy, nicknamed "El Dictador," a Spanish official who oversaw the rum trade in Cartagena de Indias, the commercial center of the Spanish colonial empire in the 18th century. The brand is named after him, and this is where the story of Dictador as a rum with authority began.
The modern era of Dictador began in 1913, when the family business of the same name was officially founded. Since then, Dictador rum has been produced with an emphasis on precision, craftsmanship, and long aging, now led by renowned master blender Hernan Parra, who is the third generation of the Parra rum family.
