Dictador Jerarquía Borbon 1985 is an exceptionally aged Colombian rum from the exclusive Jerarquía edition. This rare collection was crafted from barrels that the Parra family had carefully guarded for decades. Each had ample time to develop its own character, depth, and flavor profile typical of the most exceptional Dictador rums.
Tasting Profile:
Aroma: Grilled pineapple, ginger, cinnamon, red apples, and oak.
Taste: Diverse and rich, with notes of apples, milk chocolate, chili, vanilla, cherry cola, and sandalwood.
Finish: Smooth and layered, with hints of sweet green tea, leather, vanilla tobacco, and pralines.
Production:
The rum was distilled in 1985 and aged for many years in carefully selected American oak barrels previously used for bourbon, supplemented with barrels previously used for sherry and port wine. It is precisely this combination of aging that gives it a layered, elegant, and distinctly complex character, blending tropical fruit, spices, chocolate, oak, and subtle notes of tobacco.
Collection:
Jerarquía means “hierarchy” in Spanish, and the name perfectly captures the character of this edition. It is a collection of old and rare rum barrels that represent some of the most valuable reserves of the Dictador brand. The rums in this collection were created in the heart of Colombia and have been preserved for many years as part of a family legacy.
Dictador Jerarquía Borbon 1985 is intended primarily for connoisseurs, collectors, and lovers of aged rums who are looking for a bottle with a clear origin, a distinctive story, and a rich tasting profile. It is suitable for slow savoring, as a prestigious gift, and as a distinctive collector’s item for lovers of premium rums.
About the Dictador brand:
Dictador was born in Colombia, a country famous not only for its coffee but also for its ideal climate for rum maturation. The result is a rum that appeals to collectors, lovers of rare editions, and lovers of sophisticated flavors.
The Dictador brand draws inspiration from Sever Arangoy, nicknamed "El Dictador," a Spanish official who oversaw the rum trade in Cartagena de Indias, the commercial center of the Spanish colonial empire in the 18th century. The brand is named after him, and this is where the story of Dictador as a rum with authority began.
The modern era of Dictador began in 1913, when the family business of the same name was officially founded. Since then, Dictador rum has been produced with an emphasis on precision, craftsmanship, and long aging, now led by renowned master blender Hernan Parra, who is the third generation of the Parra rum family.
