Dictador Jerarquía Pardo 1991 is a rare Colombian vintage rum from an exceptional family collection of old barrels, carefully tended by the Parra family. The Jerarquía collection represents a unique selection of long-aged rums, each of which has developed its own distinctive flavor profile during maturation.
Production:
The rum was produced in the heart of Colombia at a distillery that is now closed. Its origin, vintage, and limited availability give it a distinct collector’s appeal. The name Jerarquía, meaning “hierarchy,” refers to the exceptional status of these barrels in the family collection as well as the patience required for their long aging.
The rums from the Jerarquía collection were aged in selected American oak barrels and in barrels previously used for sherry or port wine. The Pardo 1991 variant offers a deep and unusually complex profile dominated by dark fruit, rare woods, leather, earthy tones, and cigar smoke.
Tasting Profile:
Nose: Deep notes of blackcurrant and leather complemented by black truffle, an earthy character, and a hint of coconut husk.
Palate: Distinctive and complex, with sandalwood and cedar, dark chocolate, cigar smoke, spices, and fennel.
Finish: Distinctly leathery, with notes of old books and the atmosphere of a classic vintage car’s interior.
The aroma blends blackcurrant with leather, black truffle, earthy notes, and a light hint of coconut husk. The taste is bold and layered, with notes of sandalwood and cedar, dark chocolate, spices, fennel, and complex cigar smoke.
Recommended serving:
Neat at room temperature, or with a few drops of water.
Dictador Jerarquía Pardo 1991 is a rum intended primarily for experienced tasters and collectors. It offers a rare origin from a closed Colombian distillery and an exceptionally deep profile featuring blackcurrant, truffle, rare woods, dark chocolate, cigar smoke, and leather.
About the Dictador brand:
Dictador was born in Colombia, a country famous not only for its coffee but also for its ideal climate for rum maturation. The result is a rum that appeals to collectors, lovers of rare editions, and lovers of sophisticated flavors.
The Dictador brand draws inspiration from Sever Arangoy, nicknamed "El Dictador," a Spanish official who oversaw the rum trade in Cartagena de Indias, the commercial center of the Spanish colonial empire in the 18th century. The brand is named after him, and this is where the story of Dictador as a rum with authority began.
The modern era of Dictador began in 1913, when the family business of the same name was officially founded. Since then, Dictador rum has been produced with an emphasis on precision, craftsmanship, and long aging, now led by renowned master blender Hernan Parra, who is the third generation of the Parra rum family.
