Bruichladdich Octomore 11.3 Islay Barley is an extremely peaty single malt whiskey from the island of Islay that combines power, terroir, and surprising elegance. It belongs to the eleventh Octomore series, whose philosophy is based on pushing the boundaries of whiskey—high peatiness, bottled at nearly cask strength, yet with an exceptionally refined flavor profile. This edition was made from barley grown directly on the Octomore farm on the island of Islay, which gives it an even more distinctive local character.
The whiskey was aged for five years in casks previously used for American whiskeys from Jim Beam, Jack Daniel’s, Heaven Hill, and Buffalo Trace. The result is an intense, assertive, and layered style in which smoke and sweetness do not overpower one another but instead form a solid, well-structured whole. Octomore 11.3 will appeal primarily to lovers of heavily peated whiskies who seek not only power but also depth and distinctiveness.
Tasting Profile:
Nose: Orange blossom, smoky apricots, caramel, heather.
Palate: Intense, peaty, and complex, with caramel sweetness and a salty touch.
Finish: Long, pronounced, and smoky, with a salty note.
Serving:
Despite its high alcohol content of 61.7%, it doesn’t come across as merely powerful. Quite the opposite—in addition to its smoky character, it also offers more delicate aromatic layers that make it an exceptional whiskey to be savored slowly. Presented in a gift box, it’s also an excellent choice for seasoned fans of Islay whiskeys.

About the Bruichladdich Distillery:
The Bruichladdich Distillery was founded in 1881 on the west coast of the island of Islay in Scotland. Unlike most of its island neighbors, Bruichladdich originally focused on unsmoked single malt whiskey—and it was precisely this elegance and smoothness that soon earned it a reputation.
After several years of inactivity, the distillery reopened in 2001, this time with a clear vision: to produce authentic, bold, and fully traceable whisky from local ingredients. Today, Bruichladdich is known as one of Scotland’s most progressive producers—its variety of barley, experiments with different types of casks, and extremely peaty series such as Octomore and Port Charlotte prove that the brand knows how to combine respect for tradition with the courage to innovate.
