Product description

Diageo Prima & Ultima 2021 is an exceptionally rare collector’s collection of eight single malt Scotch whiskies from both active and closed Diageo distilleries. This is the second release in the Prima & Ultima series, which showcases some of the most significant “first” and “last” casks in the history of Scotch whisky.

The collection was personally curated by the experienced expert Maureen Robinson, who selected exceptionally old and unique whiskies with extraordinary stories. Each bottle captures a specific moment in the distillery’s history—it may be the first experiment of its kind, one of the first casks filled, or, conversely, the last remaining stock from the period before production ceased.

The name Prima & Ultima derives from the Latin words for “first” and “last.” The 2021 collection includes, for example, a whisky from the very first cask filled at the Auchroisk distillery, an experimental Lagavulin matured entirely on the island of Islay, and rare distillates from the last casks sealed at the Brora and Convalmore distilleries.

All whiskies in the set were bottled at their natural cask strength. The collection offers a wide spectrum of styles—from elegant and fruity Speyside whiskies to the robust character of Mortlach and the smoky, maritime notes of Lagavulin and Talisker.

A whisky made from distillate originally intended for the well-known Flora & Fauna 16-year-old bottling, which was set aside for further maturation.

Talisker 1979

41 years, 47.5%, 0.7 L

A whisky created from the last four surviving Talisker casks from the 1979 vintage.

The Singleton of Glendullan 1992

28 years, 60.1%, 0.7 L

The distillery’s first experiment with secondary maturation in casks previously used for Madeira wine.

Diageo Prima & Ultima 2021 is intended primarily for experienced connoisseurs and collectors of rare Scotch whisky. It offers the opportunity to acquire eight unique bottles that document pivotal moments in the history of individual distilleries and the art of long-term maturation.

The set is sold only as a complete collection. Individual bottles cannot be purchased separately.
