Spearhead Single Grain is a modern Scotch whisky that deliberately breaks with some established traditions. Although labeled as a single grain whisky, it is made exclusively from 100% malted barley. It differs from single malt whisky primarily in its use of a continuous copper Coffey still instead of traditional pot stills.
Production:
A longer fermentation lasting approximately 92 hours helps create a lighter, fruity, and aromatic distillate. The whisky is then aged in ex-bourbon barrels, which give it a sweeter character, vanilla notes, and good versatility in mixed drinks.
A distinctive feature of the production process is the use of barrels charred with infrared radiation. Spearhead matures for six months in a combination of traditionally and infrared-charred barrels, giving it more pronounced notes of caramel, dark fruit, chocolate, and brown sugar. The result is a smooth and sweeter whiskey with a velvety texture.
Tasting Profile:
Nose: Floral notes of violets, dark berries such as blackcurrants and blackberries, vanilla beans, caramel, and dark chocolate.
Palate: Velvety and smooth, with notes of red apple, lime, vanilla fondant, and light brown sugar.
Finish: Long, smooth, and sweet, with notes of melted brown sugar.
Serving:
It pairs well on its own, on the rocks, or mixed with your favorite non-alcoholic beverage. Thanks to its lighter and more approachable profile, it can also serve as a base for modern whiskey cocktails.
Spearhead Single Grain is an unconventional Scotch whisky for customers seeking a lighter, sweeter, and highly mixable style.
Loch Lomond Distillery:
Loch Lomond Distillery is a distillery whose story is as impressive as the beautiful landscape of Loch Lomond. The first mentions of a distillery on the shores of this picturesque lake date back to 1814, near Tarbet at the northern end of the lake; however, the exact date of the original distillery’s closure has been lost to history, leaving behind only a small number of records.
The current Loch Lomond Distillery, founded in 1965 through the initiative of the former owners of the Littlemill Distillery in Bowling, a few miles from Glasgow, continues the tradition of Scotch whisky production with boundless passion and innovation. Every drop of whisky from the Loch Lomond distillery is an expression of a deep connection to the local landscape and history, offering whisky lovers around the world a unique and unforgettable experience.
