Product description

The Don Papa brand is known for its distinctive artwork on the labels and tubes of its rums. In 2022, the brand launched a collaboration with the local art scene. Eliška Podzimková became the first ever Czech artist whose work appeared on a limited art edition of this Filipino brand. This collaboration is unique and the first of its kind, as it brings augmented reality (AR) to the tube. Thanks to the Artivive app, the objects on the tube will move and transport the viewer to the Philippine jungle.

Eliška Podzimková is a creative multimedia artist whose unique wit, design sense and technical skills have earned her an international reputation as a pioneering animator. She uses her unusual technique, which combines live action photography and video with engaging hand-drawn animation, in short films, music videos, photography and other projects.

The artist's inspiration for Sugar Island came from her travels through Sugarlandia, as the locals call Negros Island in the Philippine archipelago.

"Many representatives of the animal and plant kingdom are found only in this part of the world. The pristine nature, the amazing symbiosis of people and animals and the local landmark, the still active Mount Kanlaon volcano, captivated me so much that it became an open book of inspiration. The colourful dove with a bleeding heart, the mole whose eyes glow far in the dark, the rare tamaraw buffalo and a host of other animals you won't find anywhere else in the world."  says Eliska Podzimkova.

The limited edition tube contains Don Papa Baroko. Baroko in old Filipino Tagalog means enthusiasm and zest for life. And it is one of the qualities that the eponymous edition of Don Papa also materializes.

Don Papa Baroko is made from molasses on the Philippine island of Negros, home to some of the sweetest sugar cane in the world. It is then aged for three to five years in bourbon barrels at the foot of Mount Kanlaon. The resulting blend reflects the original character of the Don Papa brand, which is distinctive, rich and full of life.

Nose: rich notes of citrus and vanilla.
Taste: full-bodied, with notes of candied tropical fruit and honey.
Finish: long, strong finish with hints of raisins and burnt wood.
