Product description

Žufánek Brandy follows on from their earlier limited edition wine brandy aged in oak barrels. Distilled in 2017, this edition was launched on the market after three years of aging as a full-bodied brandy with a distinctive character and 45% alcohol content.

Production:

The distillate is made from Moravian wines from partner winemakers, with Grüner Veltliner being the most common variety. It is this raw material that gives the base its delicate acidity, freshness, and structure, which is key for subsequent barrel aging.

After distillation, the brandy was stored for three years in white oak barrels, the insides of which are charred. The charred wood affects not only the color—from golden to amber—but above all the flavor profile.

Tasting profile:

Gradually, notes of vanilla, light caramel sweetness, wood, and delicate spices emerge.

The result is a structured, fuller brandy with a pleasant warmth and a longer finish. Ideal for slow sipping at room temperature, when its barrel character and the work with quality Moravian wine come to the fore.

About the Žufánek distillery:

The family-owned distillery ŽUFÁNEK s.r.o. was founded in 2000 by Marcela and Josef Žufánek together with their sons Martin, Josef, and Jan. It is located in Boršice u Blatnice near Uherské Hradiště, at the foot of the Bílé Karpaty protected landscape area – a region with an ideal microclimate for growing fruit.

The basis of production is the distillery's own 15-hectare orchard, which is run according to organic farming principles. Eight varieties of plums (such as Čačanská, Stanley, and Anna Späth), Williams pears, greengages, and Oblačinská sour cherries are grown here. The orchards are also gradually being expanded to include aromatic and medicinal herbs, which are mainly used in the production of gins and absinthes.

The heart of the distillery is a modern distillery with four 300-liter distillation columns. In addition to traditional boilers from Destila Brno, the distillery also uses state-of-the-art technology from the German brand Arnold Holstein, which allows for maximum preservation of the aromatic substances and character of the distilled fruit.
