The story of Hankey Bannister began in 1757 right in the middle of London's West End. Here were the first premises of the company founded by Beaumont Hankey and Hugh Bannister. These two extremely different men shared a common goal which, although set 250 years ago, is still considered the driving force behind the brand. Decades later, Hankey Bannister's determination and passion led him to move to the prestigious Adelphi Cellars and in 1901 he was awarded a 'Royal Warrant' of the highest quality by King George V. Throughout its years of operation, the company was constantly evolving, changing locations to more prestigious ones and reaching more and more corners of the world. Today it is known literally everywhere and its products are appreciated by the greatest critics.
A great opportunity to showcase the craft and uniqueness of Hankey Bannister came in 2012 when an extremely old but perfectly preserved bottle of whisky with the brand's label was discovered. The address on the label, the type of bottle glass and the adhesive paper were checked to identify the year of creation. The address turned out to be 32 Sackville Street, the place where Hankey Bannister moved in 1915. Experts eventually proved that the drink was bottled between 1924 and 1928. This bottle inspired the creation of the original recipe for Stuart Harvey's acclaimed Master Coupe. The master created Hankey Bannister Heritage based on a 100-year-old bottle of whiskey. He used multiple malts to bring out the fullness of flavor, and an innovative treatment involving the addition of a small amount of smoky peated whiskey allowed for a blend straight out of the 1920s.
The whisky has been sealed in a rectangular bottle of clear glass, which makes the beautiful shade of the drink a delight to the eyes even before opening. The black cap matches the black hood with the signatures of the brand's first owners, B. Hankey and H. Bannister, just below the cap. Down the front, the date 1757, the date of Hankey Bannister, is embossed in glass, with two labels in a light cream shade below the embossing. The top label is a large maker's name, while the bottom label is dedicated to the history of the blend. Above the description is a red company logo consisting of two gentlemen with hats and walking sticks in their hands standing on either side of the Hankey Bannister gate, with wooden casks of liquor stacked between them. The inscription beneath the picture reads: 'Suppliers of the finest Scotch whisky'. Not hard to agree with them! The whole thing is kept in elegant style and tasteful colours.
