Aberfeldy Madeira Cask 12Y is an exceptional combination of classic Highland Single Malt and the exotic aftertaste of Madeira wine. This unique expression of a traditional Scottish distillery will appeal especially to those looking for a richer and more interesting alternative to classic malt whiskies.
Characteristics:
The base is a smooth, fruity Highland whisky with the characteristic style of the Aberfeldy distillery – honeyed, slightly floral, with notes of apple and orange peel. Maturation in Madeira wine casks adds another layer – rich sweet notes, a touch of dried fruit and a subtle spiciness, which together create a balanced yet complex flavor.
Tasting profile:
Nose: Sweet, fruity, with hints of vanilla and raisins.
Taste: Full, honeyed with notes of baked fruit, cinnamon and orange.
Finish: Medium length, pleasantly spicy and gently warming.
Production:
Aberfeldy Madeira Cask 12Y is a 100% Single Malt Scotch Whisky, distilled and bottled in Scotland. Although it contains E150a (caramel) to adjust the color, its taste is firmly rooted in craftsmanship and excellent maturation.
Aberfeldy Madeira Cask 12Y comes in an elegant gift box and is a great gift for discerning whisky lovers and a perfect addition to any home collection.
About the Aberfeldy distillery:
The Aberfeldy distillery is located in a picturesque green valley at the foot of the Central Highlands, in the heart of Scotland. It was founded in 1898 by the sons of John Dewar, a pioneer who opened his first wine and spirits shop in 1846. The distillery is located just a short distance from his birthplace in the village of Dull and has always combined respect for tradition with a passion for quality.
The source of the water is Pitilie Burn, a spring known for its purity and for traces of alluvial gold found in it. This water is the lifeline of every drop of Aberfeldy – naturally pure, fresh and ideal for producing exceptional whisky.
Aberfeldy uses a longer fermentation process, which ensures the development of rich aromatic esters that create the whisky's characteristic honey notes. Distillation takes place slowly in copper Alembic stills, and maturation occurs in carefully selected oak casks – from classic barrels to larger butts and special wine casks, as in the case of the Madeira Cask edition.
