The Macallan 25 Years Old Sherry Oak Release 2020 represents the pinnacle of the classic style of this iconic Speyside distillery. The Macallan 25Y Sherry Oak is matured exclusively in hand-selected oak casks from Jerez, Spain, after sherry. The result is an exceptionally complex and intensely rich single malt whisky with a deep character.
Maturation:
After 25 years of undisturbed maturation in sherry casks, the whisky acquires a rich mahogany color and an exceptionally structured profile. Spanish oak adds depth, spiciness, and the distinctive texture that is iconic to the Sherry Oak range.
Every single malt The Macallan is based on precise woodworking. The barrels are hand-selected, manufactured, toasted, and seasoned under the supervision of wood specialists and the Whisky Master team. The quality of the oak has a fundamental influence on the natural color, aroma, and flavor profile of this whisky.
Tasting profile:
Color: Rich mahogany.
Aroma: Dried orange slices, raisins, sultanas and apricots, complemented by ginger syrup and a distinctive oak tone.
Taste: Rich dried fruit, black cherries and dark chocolate intertwine with crystallized ginger and roasted almonds. The texture is full, dense, and perfectly balanced.
Finish: Long and warm, with lingering notes of dried fruit, dark chocolate, and noble oak.
The Macallan 25 Years Old Sherry Oak Release 2020 is a luxurious, deep, and exceptionally elegant whiskey that represents the brand's classic, full sherry style—with dominant notes of raisins, ginger, and rich oak. It is a collector's and tasting treat for discerning lovers of mature single malt whiskeys.
The Macallan Distillers Ltd.
The Macallan Distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, originally a teacher and barley grower, who leased land in Easter Elchies in 1819. The Macallan was one of the first Scottish distilleries to be officially licensed and has gradually built a reputation as one of the most prestigious single malt whisky brands in the world.
From the beginning, its character has been shaped by three key influences – Scotland, Spain, and North America. It is precisely this emphasis on the selection of raw materials and, above all, on maturation in carefully selected sherry casks from Spain that has become one of the pillars of this iconic brand's style. Merchant Roderick Kemp, who bought the distillery in 1892 and cemented its long-term association with sherry casks, also played an important role.
A legendary milestone was the 1926 cask, which was bottled after sixty years as The Macallan 1926 60 Years Old – one of the most sought-after whiskies of its time.
In 2018, the brand opened a new architecturally exceptional distillery designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, which combines modern technology with respect for the surrounding Speyside landscape. In 2024, the distillery celebrated 200 years since its founding – two centuries of craftsmanship, innovation, and exceptional quality that have defined the style of The Macallan.
