The Glenfarclas 60Y 1953 Queen Coronation Decanter is an exclusive limited edition decanter of Glenfarclas 1953 whisky, released to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 2013. This unique edition includes just 60 crystal decanters containing whisky matured for almost six decades in a single oak cask in the Glenfarclas cellars at Ballindalloch. The whisky is characterised by its natural strength and complex flavour profile.
THE AROMA of this whisky is rich, with hints of dark fruits, macadamia nuts and orange liqueur that develop into notes of baked apples and raisins in the glass. Spicy accents of shiitake mushrooms and sandalwood along with spiced cake and dried fruit create a balanced sweetness.
The whisky catches the eye right from the start with clove-studded oranges and mulled wine, then develops into arabica coffee and dark chocolate. An explosion of tropical fruit follows with balanced grapefruit and tangerine, complemented by honey, barley sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon for a complex and full body.
THE FINISH delivers soft fruit notes and bread pudding with hazelnut, fresh mint and citrus juice.
This whisky not only demonstrates Glenfarclas' mastery of producing unique single malt whiskies, but also embodies a dedication and investment in the future of quality stocks. Ideal for collectors and whisky lovers looking for something truly special.
The distillery was founded in 1836 by Robert Hay and is located in the village of Ballindalloch in Banffshire. This distillery was purchased by John Grant in 1865 after the death of Robert Hay and is still owned by the Grant family today. Some of the production is used in blended whiskies. Glenfarclas is Gaelic for the Valley of Green Grass.
