Isle of Jura The Loch is part of the exclusive Isle of Jura Distillery series. The name refers to the island's lochs, which are a natural source of soft water that shapes the character of this single malt.
This distinctive whisky is first matured in American oak bourbon barrels, then finished in 30-year-old Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, which give it depth, sweetness and a complex structure.
Tasting profile:
Aroma: Rich oak, milky coffee and the distinctive sweetness of juicy raisins.
Taste: Thick caramel and molasses, balanced with a subtle hint of peat smoke. Gradually developing notes of spicy citrus peel.
Finish: Long and robust, with distinctive spicy accents.
Isle of Jura The Loch offers a fuller and darker expression of the island style – combining the sweetness of long-aged sherry with a subtle smokiness and the characteristic balance of Jura distillate. The ideal choice for lovers of complex, sherry-influenced whiskies with elegant strength.
About the Jura distillery:
Isle of Jura Distillery was founded in 1810 by Archibald Campbell on the remote island of Jura and has been inextricably linked with the rugged nature and isolated character of this place since its inception. After obtaining an official license in 1831 and undergoing significant modernization in the 19th century, the distillery went through a period of closure before reopening in 1963 and breathing new life into the local community. The pure island water sourced from The Paps mountain range and the exceptionally tall stills play a key role in the character of Jura whisky, promoting the creation of a smooth, fruity, and aromatic distillate. Since its acquisition by Whyte & Mackay in 1994, Jura has established itself as an accessible island single malt whisky. In recent years, the brand has undergone significant modernization and in 2023 became the best-selling single malt whisky in the UK.
