The Macallan M Black represents the pinnacle of artistic collaboration between The Macallan, Creative Director Fabien Baron, and legendary French glassmaker Lalique. This edition celebrates the "Six Pillars" – the six pillars of the brand that define its identity: exceptional casks, natural color, small distillation equipment, estate, mastery, and spirit of tradition.

Characteristics:

The Macallan M Black is an evolution of the iconic M decanter. This time in deep black crystal – a technically demanding material that requires exceptional precision in production. The hexagonal shape of the decanter symbolically refers to the Six Pillars. Each piece is handmade and represents a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern design.

Inside is an extraordinary and limited edition single malt whisky created from carefully selected casks that have matured under the supervision of generations of "cask keepers." M Black is one of the most complex expressions in the M range – with a subtle peaty character that is atypical for Macallan, and therefore exceptional.

Tasting profile:

Color: Burnt umber (natural color from the cask).

Aroma: Cherry chocolate, dried fruit, and fresh citrus. Salty caramel gradually gives way to a delicate peaty smoke.

Taste: The intensity of the smoke increases but remains perfectly integrated. Green apples, citrus freshness, and the richness of dried fruit emerge. The structure is full, harmonious, and layered.

Finish: Long, warm, and elegantly smoky.

The Macallan Distillers Ltd.

The Macallan Distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, originally a teacher and barley grower, who leased land in Easter Elchies in 1819. The Macallan was one of the first Scottish distilleries to be officially licensed and has gradually built a reputation as one of the most prestigious single malt whisky brands in the world.

From the beginning, its character has been shaped by three key influences – Scotland, Spain, and North America. It is precisely this emphasis on the selection of raw materials and, above all, on maturation in carefully selected sherry casks from Spain that has become one of the pillars of this iconic brand's style. Merchant Roderick Kemp, who bought the distillery in 1892 and cemented its long-term association with sherry casks, also played an important role.

A legendary milestone was the 1926 cask, which was bottled after sixty years as The Macallan 1926 60 Years Old – one of the most sought-after whiskies of its time.

In 2018, the brand opened a new architecturally exceptional distillery designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, which combines modern technology with respect for the surrounding Speyside landscape. In 2024, the distillery celebrated 200 years since its founding – two centuries of craftsmanship, innovation, and exceptional quality that have defined the style of The Macallan.
