Ardbeg Wee Beastie 5Y is a young, uncompromising, and distinctly smoky single malt whisky that proves even five years of aging can yield tremendous character. As a permanent part of the Ultimate Range, it represents the rawer, more aggressive, and more intense side of the Ardbeg distillery. Although it is only 5 years old, it comes across as confident, full-bodied, and very distinctive.
Characteristics:
The whisky was aged in bourbon casks and Oloroso sherry casks, is non-chill-filtered, and has a vibrant golden color in the glass. Its temperament is already evident in the aroma—fresh herbal notes, vanilla, pear, Turkish coffee, pine resin, and, in the background, honey-glazed ham. When water is added, additional layers unfold, such as vetiver, fennel, anise, green apple, and leather, complemented by sharp smoke and freshly ground black pepper.
On the palate, Wee Beastie is rich, explosive, and intensely smoky. Notes of chocolate, creosote, tar, eucalyptus, and anise emerge, gradually giving way to smoked bacon and spicy meat. The finish is long and salty, with lingering hints of cocoa and caramel.

About the Ardbeg distillery:
Founded in 1815 by John Macdougal, Ardbeg has a rich history dating back to the time when Celtic monks sought refuge on the island from raids by the Norse. The island of Islay, characterized by wild nature and untamed shores, offers ideal conditions for producing unique whisky—an abundance of soft water, fertile soil, and peat, which gives the local whisky its distinctive profile.
Ardbeg is not only the name of the distillery, but a symbol of tradition, quality, and an unshakable spirit that has defined the Scottish island of Islay for more than two centuries. Recognized worldwide for its uniqueness and awarded many times at prestigious competitions, Ardbeg stands at the forefront of whisky production and is considered one of the finest whiskies in the world.
In 2021, a unique cask from 1975 was sold for a record £16 million, marking an extraordinary milestone in the distillery's history. In keeping with the distillery's tradition of social responsibility and heritage, £1 million of the proceeds were donated to community projects on the island of Islay, underscoring Ardbeg's commitment to its community.
