Product description

Dun Bheagan Laphroaig 15 Year Old 2004 is a limited-edition independent bottling of single malt whiskey from the renowned Laphroaig distillery on the island of Islay. The whiskey was distilled in April 2004, then aged for 15 years in three bourbon casks numbered 50094, 50096, and 50097, and was bottled in 2019 by Ian Macleod as part of the Dun Bheagan series. The entire edition consists of only 870 bottles.

The whiskey was bottled at 46% ABV, unchill-filtered, and in its natural color. As a result, it retains the intense character of the distillate as well as the influence of its long maturation in bourbon barrels.

Tasting Profile:

Color: Naturally golden.

Nose: Intense peaty smoke, seaweed, and salty sea air. Gradually, notes of vanilla, lemon zest, delicate honey, and a hint of malt emerge.

Taste: Distinctive and maritime, with peat smoke, iodine, and mineral notes. These are complemented by vanilla, light oak, citrus freshness, and delicate caramel.

Finish: Long and warm, with lingering smoke, sea saltiness, and a drier oak character. Vanilla and citrus linger in the background.

Laphroaig’s signature style is evident here in the pronounced peaty smoke, iodine, and maritime saltiness. Fifteen years of aging add creamier layers of vanilla, citrus, caramel, and light oak, which pleasantly round out the sharp smoky character.

About the Dun Bheagan Series:

Dun Bheagan is a series of independently bottled Scottish single malt whiskies from Ian Macleod Distillers. The collection focuses on small batches and individual casks from various Scottish distilleries, often unchill-filtered and with no added color. The name refers to the historic seat of the MacLeod clan on the Isle of Skye.
