Product description

Glenmorangie Signet is an exceptional single malt whisky that takes the distillery’s signature style into a much darker, richer, and more intense world of flavors. It was born from an idea by Dr. Bill Lumsden, who was inspired by a cup of Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee and the vision of a whisky with deep notes of mocha, chocolate, and spices. The result is one of the most distinctive whiskies in the Glenmorangie portfolio. It is made from 85% barley from the Cadboll Estate, which is roasted using a special high roast method.

Characteristics:

The foundation is a rare chocolate malt distillate, produced only once a year, which gives the whisky its unmistakable profile reminiscent of espresso and dark chocolate. This distinctive base is further softened and layered using various casks—bourbon for creaminess, sherry for sweetness, and virgin charred oak for spiciness. The blend is further complemented by some of the oldest whiskies in Glenmorangie’s possession.

Tasting Profile:

Nose: Roasted coffee, chocolate, pralines, almonds.

Palate: Vanilla, toffee, cinnamon, ginger, fruit.

Finish: Velvety, rich, and long.

Glenmorangie Signet offers a velvety explosion of flavors, blending bitter mocha, dark chocolate, spices, and smooth caramel. It is a whisky to be savored slowly and for those seeking something truly unusual and luxurious.

About Glenmorangie Distillery:

The story of Glenmorangie begins in 1843, when farmer William Matheson and his wife Anne built a distillery in the Scottish Highlands in Ross-shire. At the time, he may have sold his whisky for just a shilling a gallon, but his vision was far-reaching. The whisky was named after the peaceful landscape he loved – Glenmorangie, which means "Valley of Peace" in Gaelic.

Matheson laid the foundations for what became one of the world's most famous and respected single malt whisky distilleries. For many years, it was led by Gordon L. Smart, distillery manager since 1920, and the legendary "16 men of Tain," who handcrafted whisky using time-honored methods.

Today, the distillery is run by Edward Thomas, winner of the Global Distillery Manager of the Year 2022 award at the Whisky Magazine Icons of Whisky Awards. Glenmorangie still employs 24 "Distillers of Tain" who continue the craftsmanship of previous generations.

A distinctive feature of Glenmorangie are the tallest stills in Scotland, as tall as a giraffe. It is thanks to this height that the distillate has more space to develop the delicate, fruity and elegant flavors that are typical of Glenmorangie.

The giraffe has thus become not only a symbol of the distillery, but also a symbol of responsibility. In 2020, Glenmorangie partnered with the Giraffe Conservation Foundation and the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland to help protect these endangered animals in the wild.
