Product description

Glenmorangie Sonoma-Cutrer Oak Reserve is an exceptionally rare limited edition that combines the elegant style of Highland single malt whisky with the richness of California Chardonnay wine casks. Only 1,000 bottles were produced, making this 25-year-old whisky a truly exclusive item for collectors and lovers of exceptional single malts.

Characteristics:

This whisky was aged in Chardonnay casks from the Sonoma-Cutrer winery in Sonoma Valley, which Glenmorangie had never used before. It is precisely this experiment that gave the whisky its luxurious creaminess, smoothness, and distinctly fruity-floral character. According to Dr. Bill Lumsden, it evokes the impressions of sun-drenched Californian vineyards—from floral notes to buttery vanilla, mandarins, and pears.

Tasting Profile:

Glenmorangie Sonoma-Cutrer Oak Reserve is distinctive, creamy, and yet surprisingly smooth. It is a whisky with an elegant, very smooth profile that will appeal to experienced connoisseurs as well as those who want to discover a truly unusual and luxurious Glenmorangie style.

Tasting profile:

  • floral and fruity freshness
  • roses and carnations
  • buttery vanilla
  • mandarins
  • pears

Recommended serving:

Best enjoyed:

  • neat
  • with a splash of water
  • or with 2–3 large ice cubes

Additional information:

  • Serving temperature: room temperature
  • Storage: upright, in a cool, dark, and dry place
  • Closure: cork with a cap

About Glenmorangie Distillery:

The story of Glenmorangie begins in 1843, when farmer William Matheson and his wife Anne built a distillery in the Scottish Highlands in Ross-shire. At the time, he may have sold his whisky for just a shilling a gallon, but his vision was far-reaching. The whisky was named after the peaceful landscape he loved – Glenmorangie, which means "Valley of Peace" in Gaelic.

Matheson laid the foundations for what became one of the world's most famous and respected single malt whisky distilleries. For many years, it was led by Gordon L. Smart, distillery manager since 1920, and the legendary "16 men of Tain," who handcrafted whisky using time-honored methods.

Today, the distillery is run by Edward Thomas, winner of the Global Distillery Manager of the Year 2022 award at the Whisky Magazine Icons of Whisky Awards. Glenmorangie still employs 24 "Distillers of Tain" who continue the craftsmanship of previous generations.

A distinctive feature of Glenmorangie are the tallest stills in Scotland, as tall as a giraffe. It is thanks to this height that the distillate has more space to develop the delicate, fruity and elegant flavors that are typical of Glenmorangie.

The giraffe has thus become not only a symbol of the distillery, but also a symbol of responsibility. In 2020, Glenmorangie partnered with the Giraffe Conservation Foundation and the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland to help protect these endangered animals in the wild.
