Product description

Dictador Jerarquía Fino 1980 is a rare Colombian vintage rum from a family collection of old barrels that has been cared for by the Parra family for generations. The Jerarquía collection features a selection of exceptional rums with unique character, long aging, and very limited availability.

Production:

The rum comes from a distillery in the heart of Colombia that is now closed, which further underscores its rarity and collector’s value. The name Jerarquía, meaning “hierarchy,” refers to the exceptional status of these barrels in the family collection and to the time, care, and patience devoted to their aging.

The rums from the Jerarquía collection were aged in selected American oak barrels and in barrels previously used for sherry or port wine. The Fino 1980 edition offers a rich, sweeter, and layered profile that blends liquid honey, ripe bananas, vanilla, chocolate, and tropical fruit.

Tasting Profile:

Nose: Rich liquid honey, ripe bananas, honeydew melon, crème anglaise, red grapes, and vanilla.

Palate: Bananas, crystallized ginger, milk chocolate, and freshly baked warm bread with salted butter. Complemented by a hint of grilled pineapple.

Finish: Tropical fruits with dominant pineapple, green mango, and papaya, finishing with a subtle note of mocha coffee.

The aroma develops a distinct honey note complemented by ripe bananas, honeydew melon, crème anglaise, red grapes, and vanilla.

The palate continues with notes of banana, crystallized ginger, and milk chocolate. An unusual layer is provided by freshly baked warm bread with salted butter and a subtle hint of grilled pineapple.

Recommended serving:

Neat at room temperature, or with a few drops of water.

Dictador Jerarquía Fino 1980 is an exceptional rum for connoisseurs and collectors. It offers a rare origin from a closed Colombian distillery and a complex combination of honey, bananas, vanilla, chocolate, baked goods, tropical fruit, and mocha coffee.

About the Dictador brand:

Dictador was born in Colombia, a country famous not only for its coffee but also for its ideal climate for rum maturation. The result is a rum that appeals to collectors, lovers of rare editions, and lovers of sophisticated flavors.

The Dictador brand draws inspiration from Sever Arangoy, nicknamed "El Dictador," a Spanish official who oversaw the rum trade in Cartagena de Indias, the commercial center of the Spanish colonial empire in the 18th century. The brand is named after him, and this is where the story of Dictador as a rum with authority began.

The modern era of Dictador began in 1913, when the family business of the same name was officially founded. Since then, Dictador rum has been produced with an emphasis on precision, craftsmanship, and long aging, now led by renowned master blender Hernan Parra, who is the third generation of the Parra rum family.
