Product description

Dictador Jerarquía Fino 1981 is a rare Colombian vintage rum from a unique family collection of old barrels, which the Parra family has tended for generations. The Jerarquía collection features a selection of exceptional rums with distinct flavor profiles, long aging periods, and very limited availability.

Production:

The rum was produced in the heart of Colombia at a distillery that is now closed, which adds to its mystique and collector’s value. The name Jerarquía, meaning “hierarchy,” refers to the exceptional status of these barrels in the family collection and the patience with which they have been preserved for decades.

The rums from the Jerarquía collection were aged in selected American oak barrels and in sherry or port wine casks. The Fino 1981 edition offers an unusual profile that blends gingerbread, cherry cola, stone fruits, tropical fruits, and a subtle citrus note.

Tasting Profile:

Nose: Gingerbread, cherry cola, red wine, stone fruits, Pastéis de Nata, and a subtle honey note.

Palate: Dry and fruity, with notes of creamy champagne, grapefruit, pineapple, green mango, coconut, and other tropical fruits.

Finish: Tropical fruit complemented by light golden syrup and lime zest.

The aroma features ginger cake, cherry cola, notes of red wine, and stone fruit. The sweeter layer is complemented by Pastéis de Nata and a hint of honey.

The taste is drier and fresher, with notes of creamy champagne, grapefruit, and tropical fruits. Pineapple, green mango, and coconut gradually come to the fore.

Recommended serving:

Neat at room temperature, or with a few drops of water.

Dictador Jerarquía Fino 1981 is an exceptional rum for experienced tasters and collectors. It offers a rare origin from a closed Colombian distillery and a layered combination of gingerbread, cherry cola, tropical fruit, grapefruit, coconut, and lime zest.

About the Dictador brand:

Dictador was born in Colombia, a country famous not only for its coffee but also for its ideal climate for rum maturation. The result is a rum that appeals to collectors, lovers of rare editions, and lovers of sophisticated flavors.

The Dictador brand draws inspiration from Sever Arangoy, nicknamed "El Dictador," a Spanish official who oversaw the rum trade in Cartagena de Indias, the commercial center of the Spanish colonial empire in the 18th century. The brand is named after him, and this is where the story of Dictador as a rum with authority began.

The modern era of Dictador began in 1913, when the family business of the same name was officially founded. Since then, Dictador rum has been produced with an emphasis on precision, craftsmanship, and long aging, now led by renowned master blender Hernan Parra, who is the third generation of the Parra rum family.
