Dictador Jerarquía Fino 1983 is a rare Colombian vintage rum from a unique family collection of old barrels, which the Parra family has tended for generations. The Jerarquía collection features carefully selected rums with individual character, long aging, and extremely limited availability.
Production:
The rum was produced in the heart of Colombia at a distillery that is now closed, which further underscores its collector’s value and exceptional origin. The name Jerarquía, meaning “hierarchy,” refers to the significance of these barrels in the family archive as well as to the time and care devoted to their aging.
The rums from the Jerarquía collection were aged in selected American oak barrels and in barrels previously used for sherry or port wine. The Fino 1983 edition offers a rich and layered profile that blends oak spices, fruit, coffee, cocoa, honey, and subtle leather notes.
Tasting Profile:
Nose: Oak spices, cola, fennel, and cardamom complemented by licorice and rich manuka honey.
Palate: Summer fruit compote, coffee, breakfast pastries, and bitter cocoa. Further notes of new leather, suede, pomegranate, and fig leaf.
Finish: Old oak with a hint of vanilla and a dry coffee aftertaste.
The aroma features pronounced oak spices complemented by notes of cola, fennel, and cardamom. A sweeter layer is created by genuine licorice and rich manuka honey.
The taste is complex and unusual. It brings summer fruit compote, coffee, breakfast pastries, and the bitterness of cocoa. Notes of new leather and suede, pomegranate, and fig leaf gradually unfold.
Recommended serving:
Neat at room temperature, or with a few drops of water.
Dictador Jerarquía Fino 1983 is an exceptional rum for connoisseurs and collectors. It offers a rare origin from a closed Colombian distillery and a complex combination of oak spices, fruit, coffee, cocoa, licorice, honey, and aged wood.
About the Dictador brand:
Dictador was born in Colombia, a country famous not only for its coffee but also for its ideal climate for rum maturation. The result is a rum that appeals to collectors, lovers of rare editions, and lovers of sophisticated flavors.
The Dictador brand draws inspiration from Sever Arangoy, nicknamed "El Dictador," a Spanish official who oversaw the rum trade in Cartagena de Indias, the commercial center of the Spanish colonial empire in the 18th century. The brand is named after him, and this is where the story of Dictador as a rum with authority began.
The modern era of Dictador began in 1913, when the family business of the same name was officially founded. Since then, Dictador rum has been produced with an emphasis on precision, craftsmanship, and long aging, now led by renowned master blender Hernan Parra, who is the third generation of the Parra rum family.
