Dictador Párrafo Pardo 2004 is a limited-edition vintage rum from the prestigious Dictador Párrafo collection, personally selected and assembled by Dictador’s master blender, Hernán Parra. This series is the result of many years of work, the Parra family’s expertise, and a careful selection of barrels that showcase the rich and complex style of Dictador’s Colombian rums.
Aging:
The rum was aged in American oak barrels and acquired its final character through finishing in a port wine cask. The 2004 vintage spent a total of 18 years in the cask, and only 890 bottles were produced from it. This makes it a highly limited edition suitable for tasting, a collector’s portfolio, or as a prestigious gift for rum connoisseurs.
Tasting Profile:
Aroma: Hints of ripe banana, lightly toasted coconut, and red cherries. These are complemented by licorice powder, nutmeg, and a vanilla base.
Taste: Light notes of coffee with cream, a banana split with whipped cream, banana, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate sauce. Notes of red cherries are also present.
Finish: Heather honey, light notes of lavender, and sweet tea nuances.
The port barrel adds another layer of fruity depth and subtle sweetness to the rum without overshadowing the typical character of the Dictador brand. The result is a mature rum with a dessert-like yet elegantly structured profile.
Dictador Párrafo Pardo 2004 is a rum for customers seeking a limited edition with a specific vintage, long aging, and a distinct port barrel influence. It combines the Parra family’s artisanal expertise, an elegant fruity-dessert profile, and the collectible value of a limited number of bottles.
About the Dictador brand:
Dictador was born in Colombia, a country famous not only for its coffee but also for its ideal climate for rum maturation. The result is a rum that appeals to collectors, lovers of rare editions, and lovers of sophisticated flavors.
The Dictador brand draws inspiration from Sever Arangoy, nicknamed "El Dictador," a Spanish official who oversaw the rum trade in Cartagena de Indias, the commercial center of the Spanish colonial empire in the 18th century. The brand is named after him, and this is where the story of Dictador as a rum with authority began.
The modern era of Dictador began in 1913, when the family business of the same name was officially founded. Since then, Dictador rum has been produced with an emphasis on precision, craftsmanship, and long aging, now led by renowned master blender Hernan Parra, who is the third generation of the Parra rum family.
