Sudlička Plum is a traditional fruit distillate with an alcohol content of 50%, made from carefully selected, fully ripe plums. This slivovice stands out for its intense character, full flavor, and authentic fruit expression.
Honest production from ripe plums:
The basis is high-quality plums, which undergo thorough sorting after harvesting. Only the best and sweetest fruit is used for fermentation. The plums are processed using a screw pump, which grinds them into a pulp without damaging the stones – this is why the distillate retains the delicate almond tones typical of high-quality slivovice.
Fermentation takes place without air access in fermentation vats for a minimum of 60 days. This key process allows the aroma and taste to fully develop. Approximately 9–13 kg of plums are needed to produce 1 liter of 50% fruit brandy, which underlines the high proportion of fruit in the final distillate.
Taste profile and awards:
Sudlička Plum offers a distinctive, full flavor of ripe plums with a slight almond note and a long, warm finish. The recommended storage temperature is 10–18 °C.
Sudlička Plum was awarded a bronze medal at the CNSC Prague 2024 competition, confirming its quality and traditional craftsmanship.
Sudlička Distillery:
Sudlička brandy and its history date back to ancient times, when an old farmstead, which once served as a yeoman's fortress, protected the busy trade route to Potštejn Castle from robbers. Matěj Sudlička breathed new life into this place by starting the first fruit distillation. This step marked the beginning of a long tradition that has continued to develop over the years.
Historical milestones:
1918: The Čižmář family buys the estate and continues the farming tradition of the place.
1998: The current owner, Igor Čižmář, revives fruit distillation, reigniting the flames of traditional production in Sudličkova Lhota.
2006: Purchase of a distillery in Hrobice, where Igor Čižmář revives and modernizes the production of fruit distillates and liqueurs, continuing a 120-year history and tradition.
