Jim Beam is the best-selling bourbon in the world with the more than 200-year-old history. Jim Beam is characterized by mild, slightly sweetish aroma, strong oak nuance, a bit of vanilla, caramel and brown sugar. The flavor is mild, not too sweet, rather linear, with aroma of oak and walnut. The finish is short, dry and clean. For its qualities you can definitely use it for mixed drinks. Whiskey ages for at least 4 years in newly, strongly charred barrels made of American white oak.
At the end of 17th century German, Scottish and Irish settlers in Western Pennsylvania produced rye whisky thanks to the recipes, which they had brought from their homelands. But when the US-government began to offer an opportunity to move to the western part of the country and grow corn, many settlers accepted and moved to the region called Kentucky in Virginia. Among these farmers there was Jacob Beam, who as others used father’s whisky according to the recipe for the distillation of excess corn and created new, sweeter whisky-bourbon.
Probably the best decision, which Jacob Beam ever made, was to sell his bourbon. In 1795, only 3 years later as Kentucky became a new state, Beam sold his first barrel Old Jake Beam Sour Mash. His bourbon became quickly popular. This was a quite success according to fact, that at the beginning of 19th century Kentucky was home of about 2 000 distilleries.
