Žufánek Pear a fruit distillate made from one of the finest pear varieties – Williams. This variety is prized for its intense aroma, buttery texture, and natural sweetness, which is also reflected in the final distillate.
Production:
Only carefully selected, optimally ripened pears from Moravian orchards are used. During the preparation of the mash and the distillation itself, emphasis is placed on a precise, time-consuming process that preserves the maximum amount of aromatic substances typical of Williams pears.
Approximately 13 kg of juicy pears are needed to produce 1 liter of Žufánek Pear, which underlines the concentration of the raw material and the resulting intensity of flavor.
Tasting profile:
The result is a distillate with a pure varietal expression, full body, and a long, elegant finish. The typical line of ripe butter pears repeatedly returns in the taste and aroma.
Serving and storage:
The recommended serving and storage temperature is 10–15 °C.
At temperatures below approx. 8 °C, slight cloudiness may occur due to the precipitation of aromatic oils. This is not a defect, but a natural phenomenon confirming the high content of fruit components. Therefore, it is not advisable to chill the distillate excessively – it is precisely the aromatic oils that give it its character and complexity.
About the Žufánek distillery:
The family-owned distillery ŽUFÁNEK s.r.o. was founded in 2000 by Marcela and Josef Žufánek together with their sons Martin, Josef, and Jan. It is located in Boršice u Blatnice near Uherské Hradiště, at the foot of the Bílé Karpaty protected landscape area – a region with an ideal microclimate for growing fruit.
The basis of production is the distillery's own 15-hectare orchard, which is run according to organic farming principles. Eight varieties of plums (such as Čačanská, Stanley, and Anna Späth), Williams pears, greengages, and Oblačinská sour cherries are grown here. The orchards are also gradually being expanded to include aromatic and medicinal herbs, which are mainly used in the production of gins and absinthes.
The heart of the distillery is a modern distillery with four 300-liter distillation columns. In addition to traditional boilers from Destila Brno, the distillery also uses state-of-the-art technology from the German brand Arnold Holstein, which allows for maximum preservation of the aromatic substances and character of the distilled fruit.
