Svach's Old Well Whisky Bourbon Porto is a Czech smoky single malt whiskey distilled from malted barley. It was first aged in American bourbon barrels and then in red port wine barrels. This combination gives it a distinctive character, blending smoky notes with fruitiness, spice, and a subtle sweetness.

Tasting Profile:

Color: Ruby.

Nose: Delicately sweet, with notes of charred logs, dried raisins, smoked meat, and roasted fruit.

Palate: Spicy, fruity, and smoky. Notes of fire-roasted apples, fruit compote, vanilla, and ever-present smoke emerge.

Finish: Long, with notes of dried fruit, spices, and smoky notes.

The aroma features notes of charred wood, smoked meat, dried raisins, and fire-roasted fruit. The taste is spicy, fruity, and distinctly smoky. It is reminiscent of apples roasted over a fire, fruit compote, and subtle vanilla from aging in bourbon barrels.

The long finish continues the whiskey’s smoky character and adds notes of dried fruit, spices, and smoked smoke. Thanks to its peaty character, it will appeal primarily to lovers of more distinctive smoky whiskeys.

Svach’s Old Well Whisky Bourbon Porto received the “Excellent Quality” award in the Spirits of the Year 2025 competition.

The whisky is bottled at 46.3% ABV. Before tasting, it is recommended to add a few drops of water to help bring out the individual layers of aroma and flavor.
