Svach's Old Well Whisky Bourbon Pineau is a Czech single malt whiskey with a distinctive yet smooth character. It was distilled from malted barley, and its final flavor was shaped by aging in two types of barrels. First, it rested in ex-bourbon barrels, then it was finished in barrels that previously held Pineau des Charentes, a sweet wine from the Cognac region of France.

Tasting Profile:

Aroma: A blossoming orchard, flowers, and overripe fruit.

Flavor: Distinctive and richly sweet, with fruity notes and caramel chocolate. The influence of the bourbon casks and the sweet Pineau des Charentes is also evident here.

Finish: Warm, with notes of chocolate-covered sour cherries.

The result is a rich whiskey that blends the character of bourbon barrels with the fruity sweetness of Pineau des Charentes. Both the aroma and taste evoke a blossoming orchard, offering a distinctive profile of overripe fruit, flowers, and sweet notes.

On the palate, a denser sweetness comes to the fore, complemented by caramel chocolate. The finish is pleasantly warm and brings notes of sour cherries in chocolate.

Svach’s Old Well Whisky Bourbon Pineau won a gold medal at the 2025 Spirits of the Year competition.

The whiskey is bottled at a high proof of 51.9% alcohol. Before tasting, it is therefore recommended to add a few drops of water, which will help the aroma and flavor open up better and highlight the individual layers of its aromatic profile.
